Fishing in South Tyrol:
diverse, authentic, genuine – a true pleasure
Fishing in South Tyrol means taking time consciously. Time for the water, for changing conditions and for waters that follow their own rhythm. Streams, rivers and lakes are managed in a close-to-nature way here and require attention, experience and a good sense for the right moment. This is precisely where their special appeal lies.
Trout – above all the marble trout – as well as grayling and char shape a large part of South Tyrol’s fishing waters. Depending on altitude, season and water level, these environments present themselves very differently, making fishing correspondingly diverse.
South Tyrol looks back on a long fishing tradition and treats fish and waters responsibly. Near-natural management, clear regulations and solid training for anglers help to preserve fish stocks and keep waters in good condition over the long term. This is appreciated not only by local fishermen, but also by many anglers who regularly choose South Tyrol as their travel destination. Those who go to the water well prepared and take local conditions into account will find reliable, diverse and carefully managed fishing areas in South Tyrol.
Those who embrace this experience enjoy varied and intense hours by the water: from fine, precise fishing in small mountain streams to demanding fishing in larger rivers on the valley floors. This spectrum is complemented by lakes at different altitudes with correspondingly diverse fish communities, as well as numerous reservoirs that are also managed for fishing and open up further opportunities.
